Preservation Age.

The key trigger when accessing superannuation benefits is reaching preservation age, AND retiring.

Anyone who turns 55 on or after 1 July 2015 (those born on or after 1 July 1960), has a preservation age of at least 56 years.

If you were born on or after 1 July 1960 and before July 1961, your preservation age is 56 years.

Anyone who turns 55 on or after 1 July 2016 (those born on or after 1 July 1961), has a preservation age of at least 57 years.

Your preservation age is 57 years if you were born on or after 1 July 1961 and before July 1962.
